Tomato AURANTIACUM

Tomato AURANTIACUM

Even though I found very little information about this one, it seemed worth trying. Big swarm-like clusters with abundant flowers that remind of the multiflora or millefleur type (branching, not a straight cluster of two rows). Fruits taste well-balanced, with sweetness and a little acidity (that ‘reminds of the old-fashioned tomato’…). A variety with a species-like name although its fruits seem a bit too large to be considered an unaltered wild species. Lovely beaked oval plum shaped. Intense yellow, juicy and full of flavour. This line of ‘Aurantiacum’ is originally from Belgium. I train them on sturdy wooden poles so I can add something else below (parsley, basil…) and pick fruits more easily. Seeds seem to have a little more dormancy compared with more domesticated types.
