Leaf Mustard, Mix

Leaf Mustard, Mix

Whoa, Leaf Mustards! To our opinion, this may well be one of the next-in-line superfoods. Bonus, it can grow at home.

This leaf mustard mixture contains mostly frilled leaved plants, both red and green and some broad-leaved purplish plants from Osaka Purple. It is genetically mixed, like our Arugula mix, meaning that instead of physically mixing seeds of a number of varieties, I let them cross-pollinate to get a big, diverse mixture of leaf form and color. Frizzled leaves add volume to salads. Leaf mustards add fantastic… mustard taste to sandwiches and salads. Vitamins included whenever used fresh. Yum!

Availability: we will be adding more as needed. Most items listed as OUT OF STOCK may only be temporarily unavailable - We will be adding more soon, unless *LAST ONES AVAILABLE * is mentioned.

Our seeds are packaged by weight. The actual number of seeds indicated per packet may differ, but we do our best to include at least (generally more) the quantity mentioned. The quantity depends on the seed germination scores so as to include the right number of viable seeds.

  • Seed Starting

As with many Brassica's family plants, loves cool springtime weather. Direct sow in spring, successive seedings will give a continuous fresh supply until the heat of summer. Can also be sown as a fall crop, a month or so before first frost or can be can be harvested even longer under high tunnels. May overwinter in mild climates as they come mostly from hardy B. juncea seed stocks.

Mustards (and other brassicas) may be affected by flea beetle especially under stressful conditions of hot, dry soil. They are still edible, but not as nice. Frilled leaves seem somewhat less affected. A soil rich in organic matter will help hold moisture.
