EVERGREEN HARDY WHITE Bunching Onion

EVERGREEN HARDY WHITE Bunching Onion

Non-bulbing. A perennial plant that can be propagated by offshoots (or seeds). Makes lovely onion leaf rings in early summer salads, useful wherever a light onion-flavoured topping is needed. To get more typical slim bunching onions, plant them close together. When seeding in early spring, sow as you would leeks or regular onions, in flats (I use mushroom or salad mix trays from the grocery) and break off some bunches instead of separating individuals while transplanting. May be sown in late summer, but we have not tried yet. If planted as individual plants, they will get bigger (as in the picture - here they are planted among our fruit trees in nursery rows).
